Six months ago a new remote was sent to us. it didn't work.

six months ago a new remote was sent to us. it didn't work. put new batteries in and no power was sent. the blue light never came on and the tv never responded. the old remote won't turn on the tv or the number 2 will not respond. must go to number three and work backwards. I believe we have a problem with our living room receiver as well. no real high definition. we use the receiver to turn on the tv. please send a tech to repair or replace
