I have a VizioHDLED TV that is 2 1/2 years old. There is a very thick darker area horizontal across the TV about 7" down from the top and basically through the middle. We called Vizio and they don't have a clue as to what is going on and advised us to take it somewhere. Is it a setting? We have all ready rebooted.

A bank of LEDs has shut off causing your darker Horizontal area on the TV. I've seen that before on Vizio, LG and Samsung LED TV sets. The only way to repair that problem is to replace the panel since they are integrated into the panel and do not come separately. However, the cost of the panel, and the availability of the panel will probably cost more than a newer TV model.Read this article for some insight about your situation -http://hdguru.com/disposable-tvs-vizio-tells-owners-their-sets-are-un-repairableLook at the cost of 4k TVs - The cost of a new TV versus the cost of a replacement panel is very comparable.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?cp=1&searchType=search&id=pcat17071&nrp=15&sp=-bestsellingsort%20skuidsaas&seeAll=&_dyncharset=UTF-8&ks=960&sc=Global&list=y&usc=All%20Categories&type=page&iht=n&browsedCategory=pcmcat333800050003&st=categoryid%24abcat0101001&qp=verticalresolution_facet%3DResolution~2160p%20(4K)%5Everticalresolution_facet%3DSAAS~Resolution~2160p%20(4K)%5Ebrand_facet%3DBrand~Samsung%5Ecurrentprice_facet%3DPrice~%24750%20-%20%24999.99
