Have TV Questions? Ask a TV Technician
Thanks Richard for replying back to me.You were offline when I had originally responded.
I will need to know some additional information:
1. What is the model number of your TV?
2. Do the lines affect all inputs? What all inputs have you tried?
3. Do the lines affect the on-screen menu?
4. Do the lines always stay in the same place?
5. Could you attach some photos of the lines on the TV screen?
When you press the menu button on the remote control, do the lines appear through the menu and affect it also?
Or does the menu appear perfectly undisturbed over the lines?
An initial response was given, yes. I am working on the answer now...
Yes I am here.
There are a couple of things that could cause this problem.
Will you be attempting the repairs yourself?
First thing to check is that the display cables are securely connected - if they have worked loose, you will get these pixel-wide black lines across the screen.
The back cover will need to be removed from the TV and then you will need to disconnect then re-connect all of the panel's display cables.
If the problem remains unresolved then a board may be faulty.
Estimated costs for a repairman to do these checks are $100-200.
If you let me know your zip code I can recommend a repairer in your area...
Yes these problems are definitely internal since the menu is also affected.
Therefore loose exterior connetions are not the cause of this problem.
