Perhaps I can help you with this problem but first i would have a few questions like the tv`s model number so could you please send me a reply when you see this ?

What type of cables /connection do you have between the cable box and tv ?
Is it HDMI or color coded component cables ?

I see and you said you have a HDMI connection?

If so then start with a cable box reboot ;

Pull the cable box`s power cord off the wall outlet (cable box only) for a minute.

In the mean time pull the hdmi cable out and back in at both ends
Also turn off the tv and turn it back on only after you plug back the cable box power cord.
Note that it may take a couple of minutes for the cable box to reboot after you plug it back ,just give it time.

let me know how that goes

If the cable box reboot does not do it then go for the tv reboot ;

Unplug the TV's power cord and hold the power button directly on the tv ,keep holding it for 20 secs or so then let the tv sit unplugged for a couple of minutes before you try it again.
