Have TV Questions? Ask a TV Technician
Hey,Welcome to JustAnswer! You're chatting to Pete.
A purple haze on your LG Plasma TV is likely caused by burn-in, and unfortunately nothing can be done to repair this.
Please attach some photos of exactly what you see on the display so that I can confirm.
thanks for the pictures.
This is actually purple banding, not the purple haze that I had first suspected.
Purple banding indicates a faulty plasma panel.
Press the Menu button on your TV's remote control and check if you can see the on-screen menu ok.
If the menu is also affected then this confirms that the plasma panel is faulty and it is beyond economical repair.
What all other input sources have you tried viewing? (cable box, dvd player, etc)
Could you try some other sources and let me know if they are all affected?
Also try some different input types using different input cables.
Ok, so you just have an antenna connected to the TV?
Is it possible to connect a DVD player or some other device to see if it is also affected?
Ok, this is a strange problem if the menu is not affected as well.
Let me see if another expert can assist you further.
