Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

HDMI? What is connected to that port?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
hdmi1
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

OK a couple questions...

1. Have you tried the other HDMI ports?

2. Have you tried a different device, like a DVD player or game console?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no....what do I do different to the dvd ...I am a woman
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

No to both questions?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no to both questions
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

OK. Your cable box is connected to HDMI 1. I'd like to disconnect it from HDMI 1 and reconnect it to HDMI 2, or 3, or any other HDMI port.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I only see the hdmi 1 port
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

OK, what's the model number on the back of the TV?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
pn51fd300afxza
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

Double check. Could it be PN51F5300?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
maybe but the other lettes follow
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

There are 2 HDMI ports on that model. Check the back and the sides.

Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

Basically, we need to see if all the HDMI ports are affected. We also need to see if NON-HDMI ports are affected.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
lines still show on hdmi2
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

OK, thank you. Now we need to connect something to a non-HDMI port to see if the lines are still there.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
like what
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

Like... some other device that you own. A VCR, a DVD player, a game console. Your cable box probably has a non-HDMI output that you can use.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the dvd is alreay plugged in
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
do you want me to play a movie
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

OK, do the lines show up with the DVD player?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
we don't have a hdtv dvd
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

Doesn't matter. Just watch a movie using the DVD player and tell me if the lines still show up.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
we are going to try one more dvd
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the lines still show
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
what now
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

OK, last check. Use the original Samsung remote (not the cable remote) and press MENU. Tell me if the lines are behind the menu, or if they're on top of it.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the lines do not show up on the menu
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
remember the lines do not show up unless we are viewing something on a hdtv channel
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

But you just said they show up with the DVD player...... that's not a HDTV channel.

Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

I'm really having trouble understanding what you're saying. When do they appear and when do they not appear???

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
well that is true...I guess when the picture takes up the entire screen you can see them
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

But the menu covers the lines, right?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the menu appears to cover a smaller area than the entire screen when we are watching a hdtv channel...we have a 46" tv...the menu covers a small area...when we are watching a regular channel and press menu using the Samsung remote no lines show...remember the two lines are about 5 inches in from the left of the sceen
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the menu does not reach the lines
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the lines only show up when we are watching a hdtv channel and they are two them, colors red and either a blue or green stripe, 5 inches in from the left side...they run from the top of the tv to the bottom
Expert:  Dan replied 1 year ago.

You keep saying they only show up when watching HDTV, but you also said they show up when watching a DVD. I'm sorry, but I can't help if I'm not getting all the information. I'm going to opt out and allow someone else to help you out, OK? Stand by... if someone can help, they'll post here just like I have been.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
that was true to...only when the entire screen is displayed/used do you see the lines
