when you carry out the scan do you see the set searching for channels but finding none?

OK you need to look in that menu for a factory reset or shipping reset and activate that function can you see a setting like that in the menus?

Set it back to default settings nan times and then air then scan. Finds channels then ask to scan again. Like a groundhog movie

OK the next check is to take the batteries OUT of the remote to kill the remote let me know if it stops doing the search

The back of the set will need to come off and the first thing that needs to be done is for the function board to be disconnected its the board just behind those volume /channel change on the set itself it will need to be disconnected and the set tried again

Its either the function board bad or the mainboard if its the mainboard the set because of its size may not be worth fixing you can pick these sets up for less than $180

Its likely to be the mainboard however as the eeprom controlling the search will be corrupt

However it would be good to disconnect the funtion board if you cant do that or do work I suggest you replace the set they are so cheap now at this size

Its not a "try" its the best option, if you wish to replace the mainboard I can help you with that its your call probable cost of main about $80_$100
