If your getting HD channels with a comcast box, then the captions are turned on/off in the settings of the comcast box, not the tv.
Look for a CC button on the Comcast remote. If you don't see it then there will be a setting in the Comcast SETTINGS MENU, probably under Audio Settings. You will need to poke around in the Comcast SETTINGS MENU to find it. If you cannot find the setting then reply back here with the model number of the Comcast box.
