Hello, my name is***** am an experienced electronics field technician connected to you via this pay for assistance chat based support service. Your satisfaction is my top priority and in return your positive rating is the only way I will receive credit for my time.

Tv's do not have settings like that. They do however have limitations on what type incoming of video signal they can display. Depending on the model an hdmi port on a given tv will be able to accept a signal like 1920x1080, or 1280x720, or 720x480. These are the standard video resolutions of devices like bluray players, cable boxes, etc. Anything outside of those signal formats and the tv won't display anything.

So, if the mac has a way to change resolution output of the hdmi, that is where you need to start. There is no setting in the tv. It either will display the video format of the connected device or it wont. Depends on the specifications of the model tv you have.

Did you see what i wrote? Ive been using mac and lg for 3 years wo issue with the macs rrsolution?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That cannot be the issue
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Please think of something else that may b issue
Expert:  Mike G. replied 1 year ago.

Yes of course I did. This doesn't change anything about my answer.

No tv's have settings to change if the source device format being sent can be displayed or not. Every tv has a list of compatible resolutions. If you have the model number of the tv then you can look in the specs to get that list of resolutions then set your source device to one that is on the list.

If you want me to think of something else then it would be a defective main board and that would require opening up the tv, ordering the board, installing it into the tv. But since the bluray player worked, I would have to say this is not the correct path.

It comes down to the source device video output resolution. That is changed in the source device, not the tv.

Expert:  Mike G. replied 1 year ago.

There is a sticker on the back of the tv. Some tv's also have a smaller sticker along the side or bottom edge.
