Let's continue
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

O.k then I take it that you want to continue this way then , if so ;

Is this tv connected to a cable box/converter,satellite receiver,digital converter etc ?
Or directly to antenna/cable from the wall outlet ,no box with its own remote ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
TV is connected to a cable box
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

Also . you listed your tv as a Trinitron which is fairly old and also the screen has the 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the 16:9 theater mode type of screen , is it what you have ?

That is a 4:3 screen ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

O.k then I don`t know if your cable box is HD but look on its remote for a button that may be called something like ; zoom, size, format, aspect , HDzoom etc. , often has a pound (#) symbol on it or a star and sits below the digits 7 or 9 , try to press that button repeatedly to toggle between the different aspect ratio`s.

Let me know what that does

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Doesn't change problem
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

Do you have such a button on the cable box remote ?

Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

what is the model number of that cable box and/or remote ??

Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

who is your cable company ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Comcast
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

Ok and was it a Comcast tech. that connected this cable box to this particular tv or you connected that tv yourself to this box ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Comcast tech
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

o.k and you had this problem since day one ?

Is it on all channels and no matter what you watch ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Also, in setup option there is a grey line that says 16:9 enhanced: off
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It just occurred and is on all channels
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

If you do have an older 4:3 tv then you don`t want 16:9 on , it will only get worse .

As a matter of fact it may not be enhanced right now but you may still be in 16:9 mode hence those lines at the top and bottom

Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

I`m going to give you something to check , just give me a minute to type this down please

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. How do I fix it
Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

How you fix it will depend on your cable box , that is why I asked the model number earlier .

Never mind that for now , be back with a procedure

Expert:  Jack replied 1 year ago.

Comcast cable box often have a "user setting status" menu that you can access this way ;

Turn off the cable box and within 5 secs press the menu button on the Comcast remote or directly on the box and then this will open a menu such as what you can see at the link below (just click on it) , let me know what you see at the top where I pointed to 16:9 , in your box , is it set to 4:3 ?

Here is that link ;
