Have TV Questions? Ask a TV Technician
Hello, If the TV does not come on using manual power button on the set- this indicates a problem with the TV itself.
Please let me know if there are any signs of life on the TV (power light lit or blinking, screen lights up, etc.).
Also, how long have you owned the TV for?
Okay, if there's no light at all on the TV- where is the sound from the voices coming from- an external speaker/sound system?
Also, when power button on the TV is pressed, is there ANY sign of life at all from the set?
Okay, so the sound is isolated from the TV- and your TV is essentially dead. This usually stems from an issue with the power supply board in the TV- and requires replacement of this component.
However it's worth it to try a hard reset, as sometimes the processor in the TV can simply have locked up.
The first thing you would try, is disconnect the set from power, then press and hold the power button on the TV itself (not the remote), for 10 seconds and release. Then plug the set back in, and also check that the power cord is connected tight at the TV as well. Press power once, and see if the set powers up. Try this procedure up to 3 times if subsequent tries do not work. Please reply back and we can proceed.
This indicates a failure of the power supply board in the set and requires replacement of the board, are you looking to do this yourself?
