Hello and sorry you're having problems. Did this issue occur after a storm or power outage, or was the set ever hard to start or shut itself off in the past? Any response at all from the power button?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i think it started after the power was out the other night. i dont watch it every day. when you hit the power button blue light comes on in control panel like normal. then nothing else happens
Expert:  Aric replied 1 year ago.
Thanks for the reply. So if you listen carefully, no fans fire up, no light to the screen, etc.?
If so, then this is a power supply board or Mainboard failure in the set (either would be likely in the event of a power outage).
Do you have a multi-meter and can you take some voltage readings off of the power supply board?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
yes i have a multimeter, what needs to be taken apart?
Expert:  Aric replied 1 year ago.
The entire back of the set needs to be removed and the power supply board accessed. Then there are connectors on the power board that have voltages stamped next to them. We need to see what voltages are present/missing when the set is turned on.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
its getting late, ill check it tomorrow
Expert:  Aric replied 1 year ago.
Ok.

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,
Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...
Initially and if considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach, then go to the link below for the prescribed troubleshooting steps.

A friendly reminder: voltage measurements by its very nature requires that the unit be plugged in, turned on and therefore LIVE! Please exercise due care and caution.
Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.

what is the dm2cr, what are the correct voltages? are pictures and wire colors available?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Depending on the version/chassis:
• what is the dm2cr - module that houses the tuner/antenna input;
• what are the correct voltages? - as shown in the TS steps
• are pictures and wire colors available? - perhaps you can post back pictures of the rear/interior of the TV http://ww2.justanswer.com/how-do-i-send-photo-or-file-expert
This would allow me to see what you are seeing and thus have a common reference
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
do you have an email i can send the pics directly to?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Unfortunately, site policies restricts direct contact/communications.

attached are pictures of back of tv
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Appreciate the pictures.
And yes it would appear to be a first series / ATC311 chassis commonly used by both RCA and GE where the bottom leftmost is the DM-2CR module and the leftside upright board is the standby & run power supply CBA. The rectangular upright board behind the lamp assembly is the lamp power supply.

connector p1 on light engine, is that the board behind the lamp assy?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Light engine is towards the left of the lamp assembly.
Please see the link below for assembly layout.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
is the light engine also the silver box behind it? is connector p1 on top of the silver box? what is the terminal layout of the connector?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Please see the link below showing two (2) versions of the light engine.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/92079112/RCA%20%20ATC311DLP%20Light%20Engine.jpg
Depending on the version, connector P1 is on top left of the light engine as shown in the link below.

Where the pin:
• 1 - POWER GOOD signal;
• 2 - +12VR;
• 3 - GND;
• 4 - 3.3V SNESE;
• 5 - GND;
• 6 - +3.3VDLP;
• 7 - GND.
• 8 - +3.3VDLP;
• 9 - GND;
• 10 - +3.3VDLP.

no voltage at P1 connector, how do you check power supply?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Which pin of connector P1 has no voltage reading please?
Still on "...how do you check power supply?...", please see the troubleshooting steps shown in the link below.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
not reading voltage on any of the terminals listed to check in diagnostic tree. what is the preferred ground point? I'm using the ground terminal from the cord.
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
There are several GND at connector P1; pins 3,5, 7, and 9. Better yet, any metal part of the frame/chassis.

voltages check within a 1/10 of a volt at j24604 j24605. how do you check formatter and pcb?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Sorry but why the formatter?
Were you able to establish the full operation (or lack thereof) of the power supply circuit?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
voltages ok at j24604 and j24605, i assumed that meant power supply was ok, then going back to light engine voltages diagnostic tree next possibility was formatter pcb
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
I understand.
Bear with me; what is the voltage of pin 13 of J24605 during standby mode ? ... how about when running/turned on?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
1.85 volts in standby and on
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Thanks.
Pin 13 of connector J24605 is the trigger to turn on or off the main (run) power supply which provides the voltages that powers the formatter/driver CBA. No voltages and the formatter of course would not be working. These voltages are on J24702 where:
• pin 4 - +12VR;
• pin 7 - +9VR;
• pin 14 - Pwr_Good signal;
• pin 16 - +5VR.
Pin 13 of connector J24605 should read 1.8V during standby but should be 0.0V when turned on/running. Pin 13 is a signal from the DM-2CR module.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i reran standby power supply J24604 1,3,5,7,9 5.6 volts in standby. 1,3,5,7,9 5.7 volts in run. 2,4,6,8,10 0 volts in standby and run. J24605 in standby 1-0, 2-12.19, 3-0, 4- -5.09, 5-0, 6-4.98, 7-0, 8-32.1, 9-0, 10-0, 11-12.2, 12-0, 13-1.85, 14-4.56, in run 1-0, 2-12.1, 3-0, 4- -5.0, 5-0, 6-5.0, 7-0, 8-32.5, 9-0, 10-0, 11-12.1, 12-0, 13-1.9, 14-4.5. where is j24702?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.
Sorry, am not able to follow the above readings.
Perhaps the brief on how the power supplies operates and voltage tables would shed further insight. It also shows where connector J24706 of the run power supply is located. Please see the link below.
