Hello there and welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be assisting you today. I am an engineer with over 30 years of electrical and electronic training, repair and installation experience. I will try and answer your question accurately and precisely so that we can get you on your way.

I need some additional information from you in order to fully understand the situation. Three questions for you. Please try and provide answers for all three.

1. Can you tell me how you get your TV signal? The usual choices are as follows:

Cable box

Cable service - no box

Satellite

Antenna/aerial

2. If you have a box, what kind of cable(s) run between the box and TV?

The usual choices are:

Three RCA cables - red, white and yellow

Five RCA cables - two reds, green, blue and white

HDMI cable - single cable with a computer connector that looks a bit like a USB connector

Coax - ordinary TV cable.

3. Does your sound come from the TV or from an external sound system?

Please let me know.

SERVICE IS FROM A CABLE BOX . ALL GOES THROUGH A RECEIVER SOUND SYSTEM.. SOUND COMES FROM THE STEREO SYSTEM, NOT THE TV..USB FROM BOX TO RECEIVER

Ok, one more then: Do you have anything else connected to this TV like a DVD player, or a Wii, Playstation etc.? How is the TV on those inputs? Do you get picture and sound?

DVD PLAYER IS CONNECTED TO THE RECEIVER....NO OTHER DEVICES CONNECTED TO THE TV....MENU SCREEN COMES ON ... DVD PLAYER PICTURE WORKS....I GET BOTH PICTURE AND SOUND WITH DVD

Ok, so then your cable box or the wiring is faulty.

Kill power to the cable box for 2 minutes and then fire it back up.
