Customer Question

i have an emerson model ld195emx that started flashing different colors after i tried to insert dvd. i tried to power off with remote and manually but it would not! i unpluged it overnight, but when i turned it back on the same thing was going on. finally i don't know what i did but it came back on and was working fine for 2 days. now i just ejected a dvd and it is back to what i described. what's going on? the set is about 6-7 years old just after broadcasts went digital!

Jack :

Hi and welcome to justanswer.
I`m going to help you with your tv but first i will have a few questions;

Is the screen going throughn green/red/white full screen colors and repeating ?
Do you have the tv`s original remote ?

Jack :

Sorry that was blue/red/green colors

Customer :

yes on first and yes on q2

Jack :

O.k then it lloks like the tv is on self-test mode.
Try this; use the arrow up then down and power off the set

Jack :

then power it on again to see what it does

Jack :

Sorry about the typo`s , much better with a soldering iron than a keyboard :)

Customer :

which arrow

Jack :

on the remote , do you have a circle of arrows ?

Jack :

with a center button?

Customer :

yes tried that still changein colors

Jack :

O.k on your remote that would be channel up/ down .|
Stay with me as there are different procedures to get out of service mode.

Jack :

Try the same thing with the up/down arrows but this time unplug the tv`s power cord for 20 secs or so

Jack :

After you did hit those up/down buttons

Customer :

no go

Jack :

Can you give me a couple of minutes ?

Customer :

sure

Jack :

By the way, did you use the cursors up/down just below the play button earlier ?

Customer :

no just the eject button i was going to put in a cleaning disc

Jack :

O.k but i mean the procedure i gave you , did you use the cursors/arrows up/down on the remote ?

Cursor up then down , power off and on again

Jack :

These cursors are just below the play button on the remote

Customer :

still no go

Jack :

o.k then i`m not sure what is causing this other than the main board gone defective.
This procedure does work 99% of the time but i guess not this time so i will opt out and perhaps another tech. in here will have something on this.

Jack :

Your question will be automatically reposted after i`ve opted out

Customer :

ok thanks for trying jack

Jack :

No problem , good luck

Expert:  Jack replied 2 years ago.

As soon as another tech. do respond , you will get an email.
But whille i am here , i would have another way of trying the procedure;
Try using the arrows left then right and power off and on
