i have a 6 month old kdl-46nx720. the tv was working fine last night and then cut off. the red light was blinking, 8 times i think, then stop, then blink 8 times. neither the remote or the main power button will turn off the tv. had to power off the monster surge protector. the tv will turn on momemtarily. after the panel lights up, the tv turns off and the red LED blinks
Good morning,Can you check that flashing light, I need to know how many times for sure it blinks before the short pause. Also When you say it turns on, does it have sound and pic like normal?Thank youMichael
i am not in front of the tv right now and won't be till about 1 pm today. i believe it is 8 times, at least 4 times, though. when it turns on, it is on 5 to 10 seconds, the screen is dark gray and the input info comes...PC input when it failed. then it shuts down
it blinks, 8 times, i think, but at least 4 times. not in front of the tv now. th picture comes up for 5-10 seconds with a dark gray screen and the input info showing. then turns off
Thank you Leroy, Does the TV input info look bright and normal? Was there normally a blue screen.Thank you for your patience as these are technical issues and take some tome to sort through. Also its ok as to when you can be in front of the TV but I will need to know for sure how many blinks the light is doing.Thank youMichael
tv looks bright and the screen info looks normal. i never saw a blue screen. i am at work now, but will be home at 1 pm. i will answer your any emails then. i am on my work PC now, also using my laptop for emails
Sounds good Leroy. When you get home let me know about the flashing light.Thank youMike
Thank you. Will do.
:-)
i'm back. here's the sequence: power up, green LED for 3-5 secs, the red LED for 2 secs or so, then 4 blinks, 3 sec pause, then 4 blinks. LED back light failure = bad panel...yes?
Hi Leroy, unfortunately you are correct. The reason I say this is that the back light is very expensive.I can try to locate one for you at a discounted rate.Did you ever notice a flashing picture lie an old 8 mm tape?I will be here for you, but I will be out for a bit.If you accept my answer Our question will not close or time out.I will continue to help as this is a technical matter. We will get this because if you have a few basic hand tools I can guide you with this, its an easy fix but the part is not so cheap. Many people usually just buy new when this happens. In any case please let me know what you would like to do.Please note, pressing the ACCEPT Rating button does NOT close your question. It actually keeps me in the loop with you, and allows me to continue dialogue with you and allows me to set up a follow up appointment with you. At no additional cost!I will still be here for you until the job is complete and you are satisfied!Thank YouTech Michael
thank you michael.
i have been a tech since 1965, in college, USAF and working in the satellite industry. for the last 10 years i have been doing other things, so i am a little rusty, and have never worked on any of the really new technology. so, again, i thank for for your efforts and will rate you excellent. theis tv is best buy's worry now...i have a 4 year PSP.
