Customer Question

I have a LG 42 inch plasma TV. When the power is turned on a clicking sound can be heard like a relay closing, then it opens. It repeats this sequence continously but the TV screen never comes on.

Optional Information:
Make: LG
Model: LG 42PJ350

Already Tried:
Remove back cover. The click sound when turned on is coming from a relay

Hello
Welcome
Thanks for the Question

I may be a few minutes between each request for info thanks for your patience!

Had you previously had any problems trying to get the set to come on from a first start ?perhaps it was slow to come on?

Hello

Most suspect with issues like this of poor starting are electrolytic capacitors on the powerboard they need to be visually examined for stress like leaking/ballooning/raised domed tops/ so the back of the set needs to come off initially and the powerboard found by tracing the powercord to it.
On there will be found capacitors like in the graphic I have uploaded.
Careful examination of each one for stress pref with a magnifyer.
If any are found the cheapest way to do this would be to get the board out and replace these capacitors so use of a soldering iron is required.
Another option is to replace the powerboard complete more expensive but easier to do.
If you cant do either and need a tech www.tvrepairpros.com will locate a tech in your area
