ElectronicsPete : Hello, I am Pete, and I'll be happy to assist with your question today.
ElectronicsPete : The liquid inside your projection TV tubes is a coolant gel.
ElectronicsPete : The gel is similar to oil, and is chemically known as monoethylene glycol.
ElectronicsPete : It is similar in structure to anti-freeze or alcohol, and is not hazardous unless it is ingested.

Thank you very much for the answer, it would have been extremely good had this part had a sticker on it saying as such. When i tore down the Videscope, when turning over the lenses to by large side down the seal on two of the three lenses failed and allwoed it all to drip all over the tail gate of my truck. Is there a corrozive effect or any other issue with this substance?

There are no issues, the liquid contained in the tubes is a neutral compound and is non-corrosive.
