the colors on my flatscreen sony tv suddenly became strange, vivid and primary colors mainly, not how it should look. every channel is the same. already reset the picture but no effect. switched the cable box, no effect. rechecked the cable connections, and tried with DVD (different input jacks), no effect. the TV is about 4 years old. What's going on?
Optional Information: Make: bravia Model: kdl40z4100 Already Tried: reset picture options, changed cable box, replugged cables, switched from cable to dvd, did factory-reset
Thanks for the question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X'm sorry to hear about your TV.Can you get me a picture, so I can see for myself? It would be great if you uploaded a picture to www.imgur.com, just be sure to give me the link.Best,Dan
the image at http://imgur.com/oa0VY is the problem. the other image, at http://imgur.com/8XysC, is the same program on a different (Samsung) TV. it seems like maybe there's no blue, but I'm not sure
Thank you. This is an internal failure, and will require repair. Do you plan to get inside the TV to repair it yourself, or do you need a cost on repair?Dan
i'm not going inside! what's the cost?
Joe,There are 2 possible issues here... the timing control (aka "t-con") board, or the LVDS cable that connects that board to the LCD panel. Either of these can cause this solarized type of picture you're seeing.Replacing the LVDS cable would run about $100-$150 for parts and labor. The timing control board would be a bit more, usually $250 or so.If you need to find a technician, click here.If you have more questions for me, click "Reply to expert."
