all of a sudden, my tv turns on, and then remains black but makes a continous buzzing noisethe front of the TV says HDTV Dolby Digital SRS BBE digital KDF E50A10
Thanks for the question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X'X sorry to hear about your TV.Is there a flashing light on the front? Also, is the noise coming from the speakers (can you mute it?)?Best,DanDan T.41092.6791988426
there is a flashing yellowish green light - if I ignore it for about 3 minutes it turns into a flashing red light I can not mute the sound the sound - can not tell if it's coming from the speakers - from the TV not the remote if that helps
Is it the standby/power LED that's flashing red? If so, how many times does it flash before pausing and flashing again? It should flash in groups.
never looked right at it before - DUH
Ok, thank you.
How old is the TV, and have you ever replaced any parts?
I never replaced any parts - it's about 5 years old
Ok.
Good news... you just need to replace the lamp. I say it's good news because this is totally normal (yes, even the buzzing sound is normal). Most folks only get a couple years per lamp... I'm surprised you got five. At any rate, you'll need to replace the lamp. It's user-replaceable, no problem.
First, you'll need to order a new lamp. You can do that here. Choose the $139 option... trust me. It will make installation much easier.
Then, open your user's manual to page 86. Sony actually does a pretty good job at detailing lamp replacement. Basically, you'll remove the small lamp door from the side of the TV... slide the old lamp out... slide the new lamp in... then replace the door and you're done. If you need a copy of the user's manual, click here. Pay close attention when you put the lamp door back on... it needs to be installed securely or the TV won't turn on.

Just had to let you, and everyone else know, that I odrered the lamp from the site you gave me, it came in 3 days - I followed your instructions and installed it myself "wow" ! It took less than a minute, and my TV is back..... Ican't thank you enough - plus the added bonus is I save around $350.00 from the estimates I was given if someone had to come out and do it for me! THANK YOU
I'm very happy to hear that! Thank you! If you need anything else, let me know.
