Customer Question

I hooked up my PC to my visio LED via HDMI and got a great picture but couldn't get the sound to also go from the PC to the TV. I followed the manual and connected a cable from the PC sound output (where the headphones plug in) to the RGB audio but ... nothing. The only sound is from the weak PC speaker. Any suggestions?

Hi,

If you plug in the headphones/headsets in the PC's sound output (usually green), do you get sound in the headphones/headsets?

Do you have windows xp, vista, or 7?

Can you go to Start, control panel, hardware and sound, sound, and check the sound setting there?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Customer replied 283 days ago.

Yes, the headphones work and so do external speakers. But when I plug in the cable from that same PC output to the Visio RGB audio input, the PC sound goes silent and nothing comes out of the TV. If I unplug the cable from the PC, the PC sound returns. The PC is Windows 7 64 bit.

When I went to the sound in the control panel, everything looked normal and it recognized the HDMI connection. Should the sound travel from the PC to the TV via the HDMI connection or the from the headphone connection. Either way, I get nothing.

By the way, starting tomorrow, I will be travelling for 9 days so we may have to continue this when I get back.

It should get sound with the HDMI connection.

When you go to Start, control panel, hardware and sound, sound, can you set the hdmi device as the default, and check?

Thank you.

Customer replied 283 days ago.

OK, made HDMI the default output and still no sound so I rebooted and still no sound.

Try on each white/red output on the TV as needed.

Thank you.

No place on the PC to plug in this type of cable.

Please look at the picture carefully again:

You would plug the black connector to the PC (green) sound output, and plug the red and yellow connectors to the TV.

Thank you.

Customer replied 282 days and 23 hours ago.

Oh, they are different from the red, white, and yellow I have. I don't have any cables like the picture.

Sorry. It's only one cable that has one connector at one end and two connectors at the other end. Can you get that pc to tv audio cable from your local computer/electronics store or online at
http://www.amazon.com/Player-Stereo-System-Audio-Cable/dp/B0027V9NOY
