The symptom you are having is exactly what happens on these Sony models when the Lamp is going out. They often times don't do a very good job of properly showing lamp error on the front panel. Your Tv uses a high power LAMP to project the picture onto your screen. This lamp is designed to run for a few years then it needs to be replaced (this is normal). They made the lamp relatively inexpensive and easy for you to replace yourself. It just goes into a trap door in the Tv. You cannot buy the lamp at any store, you have to order it online. Here is the lamp you need for your Tv: KDF-46E2000 Lamp Here is an example video of how easy it is for you to replace your lamp: Change DLP Lamp Video (different model but you get the idea). If you call a repair shop, they will likely charge $150 labor plus $150 for the lamp.If you would like any additional information or have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Hi mike just fyi this is the second lamp that was in the tv the book says the lamp led will blink red when time to replace and i have another lamp ready to replace it with I was just not expecting a power supply symptom with a replace lamp problem but its simple to replace the lamp
Lamps need to be replaced every 5000 hours (give or take a few thousand). And if you install a generic lamp then that can be way less. People think they can save money by getting a cheapo lamp, then wonder why it fails in less than a year.... So exactly where did you get the last lamp you installed? When exactly was that (how many hours of use)? The red lamp light does not always work on these Sony's. The symptom you are having is exactly what happens on these Sony models when the Lamp is going out. They don't do a very good job of properly showing lamp error on the front panel.
Mike I always use the sony parts it an XL-2400 lamp module ordered out of vans its an electronics parts supplier it had run the full 5k hours and i was just going to get that extra 1000 hours if there to extend the run life of the bulb I have just replaced the lamp module and I am getting a blinking red light on the tv power light i am going to have to check the lamp connection to see if its in there properly
I don't understand? You have a new lamp there right now that you are installing? The lamp door must be closed all the way.Count the number of blinks in the pattern?
the blinking red light was the inner door interlock I opened the door open and locked it down with the bar to the closed positionthen tried turing on the tv again and its working now
thanks
Great! You're WelcomeMike
mike was the blinking red light a troubleshooting aid to tell you
where the problem is ?? and can you give me what the pattern means ?
Yes it can be used to diagnose the Tv. If it blinks in a pattern like 3 blinks, pause, repeat then that is lamp door error. Or 4 blinks, pause, repeat is fan error. ETC.
