I have a Samsung Flat Screen Model No LN40D550K1FXZA. I have a box for time warner cable , a dvd player and Home Theater with a radio in it. There is a 5 wire cable going from the TWC box to the TV. Can you explain how I would connect the Home Theater and DVD player to the TV along with the TWC box?

Optional Information:
Make: Samsung
Model: LN40D550K1FXZA

Already Tried:
After TWC came to hook up the HD box , nothing. TWC wouldn't do it or advise me due to LIABILITY.

Hello,

Thank you for using justanswer.com, my name is XXXXX XXXXX X will be glad to assist you with your concern today.

5-wire cables would be component where there is red/blue/green for video and red/white for audio. You would be much better off using hdmi cables if your devices allow such, check each device, the tw box and tv both should have hdmi, the dvd possibly and possibly for the receiver if they all do then connect only an hdmi cable from each device to the receiver then a single hdmi cable out to your tv, otherwise if not your options are using the receiver for video and audio or just audio where video goes directly to your tv.

If you want video to tv and audio to receiver then all audio gets ran to the receiver and video goes directly from each device to the tv, or all audio and video to receiver then a video out from the receiver to the tv.

If you want exact cables to use, I would need the model number of every single device you wish to connect through the receiver and tv and then I can help more if thats needed.

You then select the source on the receiver for which you wish to use and or on the tv as well depending how you wish to connect everything, using 5-wire cables the green/blue/red would go to the tv and the red/white audio to your receiver. You would then select the source on the tv and the receiver, you can run video also through the receiver if it allows it, again I would need model numbers.

If you need any further assistance just let me know.

Thanks,

Joe

My DVD player is a Sony Model NO. DVP-NC80V

The Home Theater system is a Sony Model No. STR-K66OP. I Hope this will help in giving me a more spcific answer. Are you familiar with the TWC box with the DVR . Its is a Samsung also.

Ok, the dvd player doesnt offer hdmi and neither does the receiver, actually the receiver doesnt have hardly any inputs/outputs at all, your very best option in this setup is to connect all audio and video connections directly to your tv using which ever type of cables you wish to use, then run an digital optical cable out from the tv to the sony receiver. Next in the samsung tv audio settings set the internal speakers to off and external to on, this enables audio out on the optical port to the receiver, next select the optical input as the source on your sony receiver.

If the cable box has hdmi and you have hd service you should connect an hdmi cable from the cable box to your tv and run the optical as explained above. No other cables are needed as the optical cable out from the tv provides audio to your sony receiver from all tv connected devices.

If you need any further assistance just let me know.

Thanks,

Joe
