Was the lamp a Philips or Osram lamp?

Ok, so that is a good lamp.
Then if you are getting a three blinker, the ballast is most likely bad and should be changed out.

Installation is a little more involved but not hard if you know one end of a screwdriver form the other. I can help you there if you decide to do it.
