Thank you for posting your question on Just Answer! I will be happy to help you with this problem. Can you please give us some more information so I can better answer your questions.

-When you turn it on now, what does it do? (light blink, click noise, etc.)
-How old is the unit?

Please give me this information and I will be happy to assist you further.
Thank you,
Tim Nolan

It does not go on anymore, so it does nothing. The TV is about 2 years old,

Ok very common problem in your model, chances are you have a power supply issue. Samsung actually just settled a class action suit for this problem and is now repairing it free of charge. What you need to do is call 1-800-SAMSUNG at this point to get the process started.

Samsung' s class aaction suit does not cover this model, so they are not willing to repair it at all and told me I need a technician, as it is not clear that the power supply is my issue,

Have you called them? I have seen them repair this set without issue before.

If not, do you know how to use a meter?

I just "chatted" with them from their website. No, I'm sorry I do not know what you mean by a meter,

I would call them at 1-800-samsung myself, I have seen them repair this.

Chances are your power supply is the issue, it could be an inverter issue or something else but generally speaking its useually the power supply. If you know how ot use a meter I can walk you through the diagnosis. If not and you use a tech, you are normally looking at $300-450 for a repair.
