Customer Question

I have a Sony 26" Bravia model # XXXXX My infra-red device on this TV seems to have stopped working. My Sony remote will not work for any functions including on-off changing channels or volume. Neither does my other Sony TV remote work on it . My Comcast remote will change the channels on the box but will still not work the volume or cut the TV on or off. I need advice on what I should do. The problem is that the IR board inside the TV has failed. There aren't any resets or buttons you can press to fix this problem and the IR board itself will need to be replaced. If you're a DIY'er and comfortable removing the back panel of the TV, then you can access and replace the board yourself. It is located underneath the LCD panel and is accessed from the rear of the TV. The board itself is a plug and play device and can be purchased at the link below:

If you're not comforatable oepning the TV up and replacing it yourself, then a Tech would typically charge around $75-$100 parts and labor for this type of repair. In this case, you can use the link below to locate a Tech in your area:
