was made in 2004, I have cable (comcast)
nothing is connected to the tv

Ok if you push the MENU button on the tv itself, does the menu have any red in the words/pictures?

yes, its shows a red, green and blue bar at the top

OK look between your cable box and the tv, I assume you have 5 wires? (green, blue, red, white and red) It is common for one of these to come loose or fall out for no reason. So the first thing you need to do is look both on the back of the box and the back of the tv. Make sure all are tight and none have fallen out.
