Why does my mitsubishi dlp turn off by itself and won't stay on. lamp has been replaced.
Thank you for posting your question on Just Answer! I will be happy to help you with this problem. Can you please give us some more information so I can better answer your questions.
-What is the model number for the television? (this can be found on the back of the unit) -How old is the unit?-What are the lights on the front doing?
WD-657372009green lishgt flashes; becomes solid green; stays on for a short time, then flashes yellow light and turns off
The status light blinking yellow means the lamp door is not on the tv. Do you have the door on? If no, put it on and try it out, let me know. If its on, let me know and we will continue troubleshooting.Tim
Lamp door is on tv
Ok once it shuts down, push the ACTIVITY AND CHANNEL DOWN button at the same time, hold them down for 5 seconds, the light should start flashing a code. (example 2 blinks pause 3 blinks pause 2 blinks pause 3 blinks pause repeat) Can you get me this code?Tim
Sorry. Can't locate remote right now to try. I'll come back once I can.Thank you.
You don't do this on the remote, you do it on the buttons on the tv itself.Tim
There's only one button on the front of tv...power
To the left behind the flip down door there are 5 more buttons.Tim
blink pause blink
OK but there should be a pattern to the blinking, something like 6 blinks pause 2 blinks pause repeat).Tim
looks like one blink pause two blinks
Ok you checked that after the tv shut itself off?Tim
yes
The error code you are getting (12) means No error found, so that is not going to help us much. You said the light blinks yellow at one point right? how long does it blink yellow for?Tim
maybe 5 minutes or more than changes to blinking red
Ok and how long does it blink red?Tim
not sure of exact length of time, but a long time. I can try to time it if you need me to.
No need to time it...try to pull the error code when its blinking red. Does it change?Tim
this time it stayed on a couple of minutes; went off; blinked yellow twice and then no light or blinks
Ok try the error code anyway, we need to see if we can pull something other than a 12.Tim
Tim,Sorry to keep you waiting. I went down to see if I could get another code, but still got 12. Then I checked just to make sure the door to the lamp was closed. It was, but had a little play in it, like it wasn't screwed down tightly. I pushed it tight and turned the TV on. It's still playing and hasn't yet cut off, so I haven't gotten a chance to try to get another code. Now it seems like it wants to play. Could a loose door have been the problem?
Yes, a loose door will cause this problem, there is a switch that door pushes on and if it does not push tight enough the tv will not work.Glad you got it working!
