I have a 2009 Mitsubishi XXXXX I turned the TV on and I heard a pop. There is sound but no picture. There isa Red Status Light on front of TV now
Optional Information: Make: Mitsubishi Model: WD-60737 Already Tried: nothing
Is the status light lit steadily or blinking?
Any other sounds currently comoing from the TV (click sounds, buzz, hum, etc.)?
no
The problem is that your Lamp has failed. These lamps run hotm and typically last between 2-3 years on your set. When they fail you will get the "pop" sound, and the set will have sound but no picture. You need to replace the lamp. It can be located for purchase at the link below:

Is it still the Lamp. The TV turns off after a couple of minutes and the Red Status light comes back on
Yes this problem is typical of a failed Lamp. The ballast inside the TV is not terminated witht he resistive load of the Lamp and this is what is shutting the TV down.
is there not a place i can go buy this lamp rather then ordering it on line
There are no local stores that would sell this lamp, unless you have an Authorized Mitsubishi TV repaitr shop in your area. ALL TV's that use DLP Lamps must be ordered from online vendors or directly from a TV repair shop. These are not parts you would find at a Hardware store, or Electronics store.
