We have a samsung plasma hd 50 inch tv which keeps turning

Customer Question

We have a samsung plasma hd 50 inch tv which keeps turning off suddenly and making a mysterious clicking noise and eventually turning itself back on, but at the moment it isn't turning back on so we've switched it off at the wall. What do we do?

-What is the light on the front doing?

-Is the clicking noise coming from the back or the speakers?

-How old is the unit?

The light is on, and the clicking is coming from the back of the tv which is mounted on the wall.
The tv is about 5 years old.

We switched it back on at the wall and it turned on and worked, but then turned off again and started clicking.

When it was on, was the picture 100% perfect?

There are a couple things we have seen cause this. We see a lot of the times a few capacitors in the power supply fail and cause it to shut down. However we have also see the logic board and main board cause this. Do you know how to use a meter? If so I can help you troubleshoot/repair this. If not, you will need a engineer at this point, the bad news is repair generally runs around $300-400.
