My KV-32HS420 has decided that it has a mind of its own. It cuts itself off and is becoming more frequent, less thhan an hour. Having sold Sony for a decade or two, it makes me think it is a power source problem. The price has dropped so much it may no be worth repairing.Should I repair or replace? Just a guess will help. Will a 40" diagonal fit in a 36" wide space?I am on total disability, live by myself & have no car, so my TCV is important to me.Thank you, XXXXX XXXXXP. S. I sold a Sony TV to a friend 27 years ago. He uses it eveyday. He never fails to mention how much he love his Sony!

What you are experiencing is indeed a power supply problem.
Ball park guessimmate?
In most cases this is caused by dried up capacitors in the TV's power supply circuit, although less commonly other component faults can also cause this issue.
A repair is likely to cost around $100-150 if you can find a local repair shop willing to take it on.
Nowadays these repair shops are harder to find as people tend to just throw away rather than repair.
The parts are quite cheap, perhaps around $10-20. The major part of the repair bill will be for labor.
Sounds like time to replace rather than repair. Charity time!
Can you tell me if a 40"diagonal will fit in 36" wide. I couldn't find width measurements?
The viewing width of a 40" diagonal screen will be 26" wide. You will need to allow for the surround, so allow another 2 inches each side, making a total of 30".
So yes, a 40" diagonal TV set should fit in a 36" wide space.
It's also good to leave some space around the sides for ventilation, as if the TV becomes hot this will wear it out more quickly.
Thank you much,. I guess that it is time to buy a new Sony since mine has cut off four times in 2 hours!
Make it a beautiful day, XXXXXX XXXXXX
