how is the DVD hooked to the tv?
with a red white and yellow cable
check the cables in back of the DVD player. i think you have them in the wrong holes.
i have sound now but now color i check the tv and the dvd player
what outputs are you using on the back of the DVD?

Hmm, so you do get sound and picture from your DVD player, but the color is gone, and the picture is black and white? The TV is using a combination Composite/Component input jack and the WAY it knows the difference is the RED Video connector -- You may have mistakenly connected the RED AUDIO to the RED VIDEO jack, and now your TV THINKS you connected the Component cable like this one here --

So the first thing I would check is to make sure the DVD's Red audio is connected to the TV's Red Audio, and not the RED VIDEO.
The red video plug....if something is connected to it, switches that INPUT jack from 3 Wire composite, to 5 Wire component input.
And when you do that....you get a black and white picture.
