Customer Question

I have a VP42 HDTV and just received a Bose Cimemate Series II sound system. When I hooked everything up according to the manual I get no sound. I attached the Optic cable as suggested and still no sound. The only thing connected to the TV is the cable box. What am I missing?

Jack :

Hi and welcome to justanswer.
I`m going to help you with your setup but first i will have a few questions;

Is the cable box connected to the tv with a HDMI cable ?
Did you connect your optical cable to the tv`s optical out ?

Customer :

The first question - I have no idea. There are 4 cables connected from the cable to the TV.

Jack :

4 cables ??

Customer :

Yes

Jack :

And where did you connect the optical cable that goes to the Bose, is it at the back of the tv ?

Customer :

Yes, were the optical outlet is at.

Jack :

O.k then i would have something for you to try if you have easy access to the back of the equipment

Customer :

Okay

Jack :

Take the optical cable off the back of the tv and connect it directly into the cable box, it also has an optical output

Customer :

Okay, one sec please

Jack :

no problem, take your time

Customer :

That did it. Perfect.

Jack :

Glad to hear that, the reason it was not working is because your bose was expecting a surround sound signal and the tv`s optical out will give at best a streo sound when connected to a HD cable box

Jack :

sorry for the typo`s "stereo sound"

Customer :

Got it, wish they tell you that in the manual. Thank you so much.

Jack :

No problem , you`re welcome and you can close this chat from your end with the ACCEPT button if you are satisfied with my answer and have no other questions at this time.
