Unplug the cable box`s power cord off the wall for a couple of minutes and try it again

Note that it may take a few minutes for the cable box to restart/reboot after you plug it back
I can't struggle anymore with the cords in the back.

Also make sure the volume is up on your tv but not too loud otherwise you may get a rush when it comes back on

the DVD works well and the sound comes through auxiliary speakers very well

still no sound but daylight helps to see things at the back of the tv. Comcast gives me a Motorola Cable Box and it has a row of five outputs red green blue tetc
Is that where you cables are connected , the component Y-Pb-Pr for picture and 2 red/white for left/right audio ?

And on your cable box , just above the card slot and in a horizontal row you have the same component connectors
You will see that every jack/connectors have their colors
those are the conns that were there in the first place still in
Use the same colors on both ends of that cable, they are the same on your tv
o.k then if thats where it was on your tv, then just connect them back on the cable box where i told you

The cables are 5 feet long and the tv is foot from everything

Same thing as before ,use the color coded connectors

yes there is no only a red and white radio shack set of wires coming out from the dvd box
But do you have a spare red/white /yellow cable or just 2 sets of re/whites ?
and a yellow radio shack pin connector which I thing was in the s-cab;
O.k then use that one along with the red/white cable
