Hi. I'm Steve. I'm sorry to hear about your TV. I will try my best to give you a precise and accurate answer.

Are you using a cable box?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
yes
Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.

Ok, both the cable box and the TV have screen format/ratio controls.

You need to mess with both.

Be aware that if you have a HD cable box, only HD programs fill the screen automatically. You need to stretch the screen for SD programs. I do this with my Comcast remote. Others use the controls on their TV.

What is the make and model of the box? Are you connected with HDMI?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I am connected to a HD Cable Box Motorola from Comcast
Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.

Ok, the Comcast remote should have a button labeled HD Size.

Pressing that will change the screen size each time you press it.

Try that first.

Just ask if you need more help on this issue. I will be here.

Thanks very much.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I do not see a button on the remote labled HD size
Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.

Ok, you must have a different remote.

Did the cable guy ever show you how to change screen size? Is there a 'Format' button maybe? Can you account for the function of every button on the remote?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
the answer to your first question is no, and are you kidding me theis thing has more buttons than carter's has liver pills. ther is a setup button on top a picture in picture buttons on bottom, the only thing I see with HD on it is HD Zoom
Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.

HD Zoom...that's it. Press that a few times to cycle through the screen sizes.

Just ask if you need more help on this issue. I will be here.

Thanks very much.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Tried this it does nothing
Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.

Really? Very odd.

Ok, the Vizio remote has a WIDE button. That should do the same thing.

Try that.

Just ask if you need more help on this issue. I will be here.

Thanks very much.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Ther is no wide button on the remote on the menu is Backlight, Brightness, Contrast, Color Temp.According to the Vizio book I should have a setting H-size, H Position V position Fine Tune, I do not have this on the menu screen
Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.

Ok, click on Menu (Vizio remote) and select Picture Options.

Do you have any screensize options in there?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Got it, many thanks

Expert:  Steve G. replied 2 years ago.
