Hi. I purchased a vizio remote (VUR10 VIZIO VUR10) on 7-17-11.

Hi. I purchased a vizio remote (VUR10 VIZIO VUR10) on 7-17-11. I don't recall using the channel button .... because I always use the cable company remote. Yesterday I started to change channels on the vizio remote by pressing the up or down arrow and screen went blank ... with a message "no channels were available" or something like that. To get the tv working again, I pressed the Input button and scrolled down to HMDI 1. Since I could not change channel, I decided to go into Setup and try and fix it. I could not find my manual so I went blind and did some adjustments. It worked ok but this morning the remote does not work at all. The batteries are fully charged.

ok here's how the TV works....if connected to cable via HDMI 1 input, all you have to do is switch the TV to this input and then use the cable remote to change channels, not the TV remote.

ok, try this with the remote.........

Get your cell phone and turn on the camera function.


 


Point your remote at the phone and press buttons while watching through the phone/camera's screen.


 


If the remote is doing what it is supposed to you will see flashes in the phone's screen from the IR light on


 


the front of the remote.

ok, if you don't see lights, the remote is not working. Triple check the batteries. Otherwise, return it for a replacement and then see my advise above about switching inputs.

If you were able to switch inputs on the TV you could use your cable remote and everything would be fine. I can't say why the new remote quit working.

where do I am the vizio remote IR light? at the lens?

i don't know how to switch the input from the cable remote. i have to do it now from the tv itself .... becuz the vizio remote does not work at all now.

If you can do this from the TV. Most TVs you need the remote for the TV to do this. This would mean you would have to replace the TV remote before continuing here.
