Hello and welcome to justanswer.com my name is XXXXX XXXXX X'm here to help you with your TV question.

If the TV can't control the audio out then maybe your sound system remote can control the TV's volume if it has Universal Remote Control (URC) capability?

If not then you'll either need to mute the TV speakers and use the sound system for everything, or buy a URC like the Harmony from Logitech which has access to a database of hundreds of remote control codes.

Thankyou in that case use the headphone socket on the side of the TV and connect that to your sound system's input.

Make sure when you do that you have the TV turned all the way down.
