Have TV Questions? Ask a TV Technician
Hi and welcome to justanswer. To answer your question; In terms of display panel longevity ,usually the plasma panel would have the longest life but now both LCD and plasma manufacturer claim a 100,000 hours on their panels.
In terms of durability; This can vary from one model to the other but by experience as a repairman i can tell you that i can see much older plasma tv`s in the repair shop. That is simply because of the design of the plasma panel that requires more individual circuits that can split the work if you will.
Compare to lcd/led that can be almost a mono circuit that has to do everything and work harder.Plasma tvs are simply built stronger , you could compare it to a given vehicule with a four cylinder versus an 8 cylinders for the same chassis. There could be many more parameters to invoke here so i`m just talking as a repairman ; if you want longevity go for the plasma.Hope this help and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again
