The volume on my Vizio HDTV goes up and down at will. It has nothing to do with the loudness of commercials - I have to use the remote to keep the volume at the same level. HELP!

Has the set always done this? Or is it a current problem that just started happening?

Is there anything connected to your TV - like Cable Box, DVD, Gaming system?
And does it do the same on those? Or just the regular TV?

If you have something connected to your TV - what cabling method are you using?

(Page 35)

SRS TruVolume

When the programming switches to a commercial or when
changing from channel to channel, volume fluctuations occur.
When turned ON, SRS TruVolumeTM provides the listener with a
comfortable and consistent volume level. Turn this option Off
when listening to music.

Check the Audio Settings menu, and turn this on/off and see if it makes a difference.

Can't find my ower's manual! Will try to find the Audio Settings menu but don't hold out too much hope! I am completely at a loss when it comes to electronics. Sorry! I think I need a real person to come and help.

This will take you directly to a copy of your owner's manual that you can save.

I included the relevant part regarding SRS TruVolume.

You must use the original remote.

Press MENU
Then navigate to the AUDIO icon using the arrow buttons on the remote
Press OK
Use the arrows again to navigate to ADVANCED AUDIO
Press OK
Navigate to SRS TruVolume
Press the left or right arrow to toggle between ON and OFF
Whatever setting it is on now - make it the opposite.

Then
Press BACK &
Press EXIT

RE-try.
