Hello JA Customer I have been fixing Tv and Electronics since I was 5 years old With better than 20 years experience and 17 years in business
Do you have cable?
Yes I have a cable box.
you dont need guide plus at al then
go the setup menu scroll all the way to the right
and you will see a TURN GUIDE PLUS OFF
Turn Guide Plus Off is not an option under set up.
i dont remember the exact wording
did you scroll all the way to the right
the setup is OFF the screen
you cant see it
untill you go all the way to the right
read me what it says under setup
you are on the guide plus screen not the tv menu
It says Set Up, View Demo and Options
click on setup
no wait go to options
this aprears UNDER the setup right?
Yes Options is the last choice under Set Up.
read me your choices
It says Guide Plus - Auto display
I turned it off and it went back to the Set Up , View Demo & Options screen
ok turn the tv off
when you turn it on the guide plus will not show up
you will then see a CH number
what CHannel is your tv on when it turns on?
Channel 3 shows up in the upper right corner
ok is your cable box turned on?
do you see a picture?
so the tv is working?
There is a picture but its blackened out and squigley and no in color.
I am not sure what channel your cable box operates on
some operate on CH3 some operate on CH4
try CH 4
punch in 04
Ch 3 is my cable and 4 is for the dvd player.
shut the dvd player off
and go back to CH 3
It is off.
and you see squigly lines on ch 3?
what do you see on CH 4?
What do you see on Ch 4?
The same thing
ch 6 ?
I went all the way up to 35 and on 33 the picture was just a little clearer, but not
enough to watch.
did the channles change?
or did it look snowy and bent all the way up?
is there sound?
did he sound sound fuzzy?
The sound is fuzzy and the channels don't change.
go into the menu of the tv
not the guide plus menu
the main menu
read me choices you see
Audio, picture, screen, channel, time, parental guide, Guide Plus, Set up and Exit.
go to guide plus setup
let me answer the questions
Guide Plus Setup, Guide Plus Label, Continuous Demo and Exit
go to Guide Plus Setup
What is the first question it asks?
What would you like to do? The options are Set up, View Demo, Options and Exit
Next question under Set up is where do you live USA or Canada
unless you livein canada
Next question is do you have Cable?
Do you have a cablebox yes or no
Do you have a VCR, Yes or NO
next question ?
It now says Congratulations, your set up is now complete. Within 24 hours your TV will receive your local lineup and program information.
ok dont worry about that
now go to the main menu again
go to channel
do you see AUTOPROGRAM?
I see auto tuning
ok make sure your cable box is turned on and execute the auto search
let me know when its done
I know what you were attempting to do, but the auto tuning ask if you want to set up VCR 1 Channel, VCR 2 DVD Set Sat/Cable Channel or Exit
look under SETUP see if AUTOPROGRAM is there
back to the main menu
Exit back to main menu
go to setup
Okay, there is no autoprogram on the main menu
Audio, picture, screen, channel, time, parental guide, Guide Plus, SET-UP and Exit.
if you cant find autoprogram PUNCH IN 03 on the remote
the tv should change to CH 3
and if you punch in CH 04 or 05
the channels should now change and NOT be the same thing like they were
so if you go to ch 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
channels should actually change now
they did not before
thats a big step in the right direction to getting this thing to work
The channels didn't change
then you have a bad tuner
if you told the tv you did not have a cable box
it should be changing channels
what happens when you get to CH7 ?
does it look different than 2-6?
does the screen blank out and come back when you change the channels?
Nothing changes and the screen stays the same.
unhook your cable box and hook the CATV from the wall right into the tv direct\
Unfortunately, I am unable to move the TV at this time. I appreciate you trying to help but I need help to do what you are requesting.
well straight cable into the tv will elimante the cable box as the issue
i think you have a bad tuner
but that would prove it
it may indeed be time for a new tv
