Customer Question

I have a 32" flat screen polaroid tv and today the screen went black. If I leave it off for a few minutes and turn it back on there is a shadow down the center then the screen goes completely black. Could you tell me what the problem could be. The unit is 4 years old.

Optional Information:
Make: Polaroid HD Widescreen LCD
Model: TLX-03210B

Already Tried:
I have turned it off and let it cool. It was a little warm but not Hot. When I turned it back on after about 5-10 minutes, it came on but that's when I saw the shadow down the center and after a few seconds it went black again.

I believe that you may have some bad capacitors on the main board.

Look for leaky, swelled or bulged electrolytic capacitors on the main board.

[2] 10UF/450V CAPS IN THE POWER SUPPLY ----

Customer replied 844 days and 8 hours ago.

Yes, I would like to repair myself if possible. I am fairly mechanical, however, I do not know anything about the new HD TV;s. Is this something that I would be able to detect and replace myself.

I don't mind paying the initial $17 but if you answering the further questions will cost me more money then don't answer. I imagine that the caps in the power supply will be costly if I am able to replace at all.

thank you

There should only be 2 caps in the power supply that are giving the problem.

They are electrolytic and the values are written on the side. they are 10 MFD

450volt capacitors. You should be able to purchase them for a reasonable price.

You can order from MCM electronics for $1.40 each plus shipping.
