TV Repair Questions? Ask a TV Technician for Answers ASAP
Hi and thank you for using justanswer.
I`m going to help you with your Magnavox but first could you please give me it`s model number ?
It should be written on the back panel.
From your description of the problem it sounds like the power supply circuit may be at fault.
If you wish to look at it yourself i`ll help you along,
Then the next step would be to take the back cover off and we could take it from there.
Well... it does involve removing the back cover.
If you can do that then i could point out the faulty circuit and it would only be a matter of unplugging it and removing a few screws.
I can give you then some addresses where you can buy/order that circuit.
So if you are able to remove the back cover then it won`t be much trouble replacing that circuit.
What i will do is give you all the info`s on your power board and where to get it.
So that even if you have to take the set to a repair shop then it should a simple affair for them to replace it, 1 hour at the most.
Just check their hourly rates.
It would be a good idea to buy it yourself as you will save quite a bit on markup for the part and on labor as well.
So here are the info`s
First this is your part number; 313815864961
This number can be used to search for supplier as well.
At this time though it would seem that all the suppliers with a reasonable(-$100) price are out of stock.
So i found this one on ebay;
Also here is a picture of that board;
