Cannot get my TV to turn on or off except to unplug it. Remote does nothing, button on side of set does nothing. Have the TV disconnected from all of the satellite equipment. Have it connected to a regular antennae, outside on a 40' tower. Sometimes I can get a picture, sometimes not. Second TV hooked up to antennae only, works fine.

when power button is pushed nothing happens at all? or continue pushing works
I'm still home and have a little time. Earlier this morning, regardless if power light showed on or off, pushing on/off button continuously did nothing. Power light stayed the same color. Sometimes if I unplugged the TV then plugged it back in TV would work (on the antennae). I am trying to determine if problem is in TV or in Satellite equipment, I came home for lunch, TV wouldn't come on, pushing on/off button didn't do anything.
After I sent you info you asked for, I went to TV, unplugged it, plugged it back in and it is now working on the antennae ! And it works both from the buttons on the TV and from the remote. While I wait for you to ponder this, I will go see what it is doing .
This is a very simple approach.

Friend this is a very common problem with plasma LCD and also DLP within the power supply the capacitors also click here Start to fail and the way you can tell is to check them visually for swelling or expanding of the top. ALSO click here ,, and here also,,
It will be easy to see the bad caps will not be as flat on the top as the good ones,
Experience: 20 YEARS OF TV REPAIR ALSO HD, DLP LCD AND PLASMA EXPERIENCE
I don't know if this is coming to you twice or not, but is the next process to open the TV, identify bad caps and have someone with experience replace them. Is soldering on a printed circuit board something that requires more than average soldering experience ?
If you can solder you can handle this,,
thank you
