I have a Mitsubishi WD 62525. I just replaced the light engine and ballast as well as a new lamp. I started the tv and it had a short illumination followed by a red lamp light. I now get error code 34 please help? I am very frustrated with this tv and already have close to a grand into repairs with no fix in site!
Optional Information: Make: Mitsubishi Model: WD-62525 Already Tried: new light engine, new ballast, and new bulb

Hello JA Customer I have been fixing Tv and Electronics since I was 5 years old With better than 20 years experience and 17 years in business
34 is a fan error
check the DMD fan
you cannot see this fan
its hiiden under the big metal ducts that feed to the dmd on the engine
What does DMD stand for?
Digital Media Device
it is the DLP chip itself
You just replaced the light engine?
There is no fan under the metal ducts? There is one on the back of the main rear cover and one towards the bottom of the light engine from what I remember? I am in the process of removing the back cover now...
Did you not take the fan off the DMD board on the old engine and put it on the new one?
I originally had a tech come out and said I needed a new light engine because the color wheel was bad. He replaced that and it still didn't work so than he said I need a new ballast. I found these mits refurbished parts on line for about a third of the cost and watched the tech install the light engine and ballast that he had brought out, but his ballast was missing a connection part so he had to tear all his parts back out and told me the repair bill was going to be close to 1500. I found these parts on line for about 300.00 total. I installed them this past weekend and got the error code 34 with a red light. The tech from the store will not return my calls so I really appreciate your help with trying to fix this tv.
do you have a camera?
yes
pull the metal shield off with the fan mounted on the back
unhook the fan and remove that metal shield
then get your camera and take a picture of the engine
try to get the area in the middle of the tv
and i will talk you through the next step
use the tree icon to upload the pix
pix size must be less than 1 mb
ok, give me about 10 mins or so...
I am wondering if the tech even put the fan in the tv
Okay, have back panel and metal panel off, disconnected fan on medal panel. I took a picture but not sure how to send it to you. The tree thing doesn't seem to be working??
ok you can open an account at http://www.photobucket.com
and you can send the link to me to download
if the tree icon wont work
Does this cost me anything?
no photobuket is fee
free
okay the pictures should be there under Mits TV file
ok you gotta cut and paste the share link

I hope that's it?
Directly to the right of the jack pack is a metal chimney box
there is a small fan under that assy
Okay, I removed the one metal duct and there is a fan behind it attatched to the light engine...
you have to loosen the screws to the ductwork that goes along the back to get to the fan
assuming of course that tech actually put the fan in there
ok does it run when you try the tv?
you will have to connrct the other fan on the matal back
so all fans are connected
I'm a little confused, there are 2 fans on the light engine. One that is connected to the back metal panel and one on the bottom of the housing for the bulb....right?
and there is a third one inside the duct
When I plugged the tv in it tried to start up, illuminated for about 5 seconds and than went to the red lamp light.
did the small fan inside the duct spin?
Is the duct the black housing that connects the bulb housing to the actual projector?
How would you tell? Not sure?
you have to remove the duct work that goes along the back of the tv near the jack pack
no its no where near the bulb
ok, I did remove the middle duct work (metal) right? Do I need to remove the one that is in front of the ballast as well?
no you need to work the other way im going to upload a pix of where this fan is suppose to be

I'm going to send you a couple more pictures
http://s968.photobucket.com/albums/ae165/jlridl/Mits%20TV/?action=postupload
here they are
ok first picture
yes that is the fan
okay, you should see the fan on the pic I just sent you. It looks like we are on the same page
now what?
there is a white protector above it i see it is unplugged
it should be plugged in
also the three wire plug for that fan is that plugged in?
yes it was, I just unplugged it when we took the duct off
ok what about the plug to the fan?
Yes, JB to JB right
which plug
ok now make sure the plugs are in
all of them
plug in the fan hanging on the metal sheet
try the tv
watch that fan see if it spins
I'm gettin an orange blinking status light? Do I have to put everything back together to start the tv?
the orange light is the filter detect switch on the right side by the ballast
when you removed the duct there is a small switch
there
put the filter back on or trip the switch manually
I just put the dust cover back on, it now has a green blinking timer light?
good wait untill it stops then you can turn it on
shouls stop in 70 secs
still blinking
Do I need to do a system reset?
if it does not stop in 70 secs you have a serious issue and youll have to send the chassis to mits for rebuilding
reset will just start it over again
its trying to boot the dm board
this also could be a reason for te 34
What is the Chassis? and how expensive is that to fix? Can I do it?
Okay I reset it and it stopped blinking after about 40 seconds
this is the one thing you did not change
ok start it
should I try to turn it on?
okay, the fan is spinning, the light illuminated for about 8-10 seconds and than went out. The fan is still running..
ok you have a bad chassis
thats the module to the left
with the jacks on it
mits will rebuild this
did you originally buy the tv?
you the orinal owner?
Is it very Expensive and can I take it apart to send it in?
mits recomends a mits auth servicer does it
Yes I am
if you are the original owner you can get them to pay for the repair
why did change the engine to begin with?
Well, they already gave me credit towards a new tv and they wanted me to junk this one. I have a hard time doing that since this tv is less than four yrs old. If I can fix it I will keep it and use the credit towards a new tv, probably LED this time!
Can I pull this chasis and send it or is that not an option?
ok well mits charges an ASC about 300.00 to rebuild the chassis with a 6 month gaurantee
the asc charges labor
and you end up with 600-700 repair
Is there anyway I can save myself the labor cost and do this myself?
I suspect this may have been your original and only problem?
mits wont deal with you
they only do this through an asc
If I can get the place I bought it from to send this in, can you help me take it out and possibly replace it?
My email is XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX
that wont work here
not allowed to exchange email
