my sharp lcd tv screen just went white on me a few weeks back. Has been sitting unplugged for about a week now because I've seen that some people had some luck with that, but none here. Didn't know if there was a common problem with them. I am capable of soldering and such. Know my way around electronics. Just looking for some advise
Optional Information: Make: sharp Model: lc-26sb14u Already Tried: leaving it unplugged for long peiod of time.
Hello and welcome to justanswer.com my name is XXXXX XXXXX X'm here to help you with your TV problem.
How old is the TV please?
Is the sound ok?
1.5 years maybe?
Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX sound ok?
yes, i believe so. Been a few weeks since I've had it hooked up, but I remember just the screen going white, sound was fine.
Here is the service manual for your TV and the download will be available for 7 days

When you press the "Menu" button does it appear?
no, nothing appears at all.
The white screen you're seeing is the backlight shining through.
I've had a couple of these where a MOSFET on the mainboard died which provides 3.3volts to the panel.
Check voltages around the board referring to the service manual. If you're not confident doing surface mounted component repairs then you can order a replacement board from here

can you show me what page on that manual that I would find the MOSFET's you're talking about? There is a lot of info in that manual, too much for someone like myself to sort through to know which parts I'm needing to test...
Please look at pgs23 & 40 of the manual
Also look for any electrolytic capacitors which have bulged on the top like this. They should be flat across.

So the board that you are talking about is the board with the A/V in, HDMI inputs and VGA inputs? Just want to be certain. It's the small board located on the top right when looking at it with the cover off from the back. Also covered up by a metal panel. A bit more expensive than I was hoping, unless you can actually point out the parts on the actual picture of the board from the website you gave me. I wasn't able to locate the one which you had circled when it came to actually finding it on the board. I do want to thank you though, you have been quite helpful.
It's the digital pc board in the middle with all the connections and this part is on the underside. Not easy to see
Hope this helps you and is from pg26
so do you know a website where I can get that center board then? Because the one you gave me only gives me the board that I described to you.
Hello there
I gave you the link above for the mainboard.
There are a couple available for your model depending on the date of manufacture so please get the number off the board in your TV when you open the back of the TV so that you get the correct mainboard from here:
Yes it has the HDMI, VGA on it. Well done on locating it in your TV.
