i have a 47 lcd tv.. my nephew was playing the ps3 and stated

i have a 47 lcd tv.. my nephew was playing the ps3 and stated that he heard a poping noise then the picture and the sound went off... the satilitte and other inputs still work but not the ps3 or the sound on the tv... anyideas

If the satellite and other inputs work fine on the TV set -- then the TV is likely to be ok.


What you may have is a defect in the PS3 since it provides no sound or picture to the TV set.


PS3 has HDMI and Component Audio/Video outputs, and it also has the OLD 3 wire RCA Video /Audio outputs.


Make sure you get picture and sound on the satellite and "other inputs" first, then try connecting the Sony PS3 to the TV set using the 3 wire RCA connection on it -- It's designed to ALWAYS have a signal coming out of that


This is the one I'm talking about -- the yellow white red connections.




If that works then try the COMPONENT cables -- you must turn off the HDMI On/Off setting in the Video output section of the PS3 menu first, you can do that with the 3 wire cable connected to the TV set.


Try the component cables next.....




Lastly, try the HDMI with the HDMI on/off setting on the PS3 turned back on.




This will verify if the Sony just locked up on you, or if the SONY is dead in the water.


But I am under the assumption that "the satellite and other inputs still work" means you are getting BOTH picture and sound on those connections.


Let me know what works and what doesn't.

i triied the ps 3 on another tv it seems to be working fine... the imput 2 is the one it was in it seems to be totally out.. all the other imputs work as far as the picture goes... there is just no sound:(

No sound on ALL INPUTS?


If so, then we have a POSSIBLE problem with the TV's Audio settings or possibly the AV board.


Go into your TV menu, access the Audio settings -- make sure the Speaker ON/OFF setting is set to ON -- also make sure the SAP /MAIN setting on your TV's remote/menu setting is NOT set to SAP.


Both settings will kill the audio.....

ok triied all that plus had done a few thing on my own... it appears that all my inputs video works except for vid 1 and 2... however there is still no sound for all other inputs... video appears to be working on all inputs except vid 1 and 2. all setting are where they should be.

Ok, you're going to need to replace two boards, one for audio, the other for input....



Part number 274704 does all the signal processing.




Part number 274702 is for sound.


Now THIS is where it gets WEIRD !


Speakers? The audio board is Now Speakers?


And it's a Visio PART?


I knew RCA went to China, but in cahoots with Visio?


Sometimes you find the TRUTH out there....and if RCA is having other companies manufacture FOR them....that's the same Death Knell that Curtis Mathes had occur to them....


We can't get parts to do the repair -- so DON'T get just one part. Either find BOTH (and I tried) or get another TV set, or give the TV to someone that deserves it and get yourself a Really Big Name TV set -- Samsung, Sony, Panasonic , Mitsubishi , LG--Top Line and Toshiba or Hitachi are good name brands.


RCA was good, until they decided to do China....

Ok, let me know when you get them connected -- I still can't believe RCA's Audio Amp turned out to be speakers....That's bad cataloging by a company that founded Radio and TV -- Sarnoff is rolling in his grave, but some Chinese entreprenuer is laughing about this.

wait... I didnt order any speakers just that sound card... did I need the speakers?

No, the second number I looked up was an Audio board on 2 websites, but the ONLY picture listing of the "audio board" showed a set of speakers.


As far as I'm concerned -- don't order the speaker part number, just go with the FIRST part number, 274704.


Forget the second one.

so got the sound card it does not match anycard that i can see in the tv... now what? that card cost me 35.00

That is NOT the Card you want....the one you NEED is the 274704 module ONLY....not that speaker set ! That board costs $180.00 not $35.00


Send it back tell them it's incompatible with your TV's design -- it does not fit and isn't built the same way as the original --Then ask them if they have problems with the Chinese Version of RCA TV sets, and you want to get the main board, not the speakers.


And yes, they were labled "Audio OUT"
