I have a Toshiba combo TV with VCR and DVD players. The door

Resolved Question:

I have a Toshiba combo TV with VCR and DVD players. The door to the DVD player will not open all the time. When it finally does, all is normal and I can play the DVD. But why won't it open reliably?

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Initially, postback with the model number of the TV / DVD /VCR combo.

Offhand, some possibilities on the no tray eject of some versions of a Toshiba DVD player:
  • slipping / worn or stretched belt (most likely);
  • gear tray stuck or disc tray out of alignment (likely)
  • failing load/eject motor (least likely);
  • missing DC drive to load / eject motor (unlikely but a possibility).
As can be seen from above, it is a mechanical problem and would therefore require that the unit be opend up to effect repairs. it is not a setting nor a configuration issue.

In some instances, repairs may no longer be cost effective. A workaround is to connect an external DVD player.

Good luck and thank you for asking JustAnswer.
