Thank you for posting your question on Just Answer! I will be happy to help you with this problem. Can you please give us some more information so I can better answer your questions.
-When you say it would turn on and off, would you actually get a picture or just a power light?
-How old is the unit?
Please give me this information and I will be happy to assist you further.
Thank you,
Tim Nolan
The tv is only 2 yrs old. The picture goes out. I am wondering if it could be a power serge problem due to the fact we had several power outages recently. However, the tv just klicks on and off, it will not stay on.
It is hard to say whether this is related to a surge or not it is possible however there are several things that can cause this. Please tell me a little more about your situation so I know where to go with my answer.
What kind of information are you looking for? Trying to fix this yourself or get a good idea of what's wrong and what it will cost?
If you are trying to repair this yourself, what kind of electronic repair experience do you have, do you know how to use a meter and solder?
Please let me know!
Thanks,
Tim
No, I can't repair myself. I just need to know if it can be repaired and if so, will it cost more then just buying a new tv. Don't want to waste time and money on something that can't be fixed or that will cost more than it's worth.
There are a couple of different things that could cause this problem, the first is the power supply, and the second the main board. Also either sustain or scan driver board can cause this problem. You will need a repairman at this point to know exactly what is the cause in your case. You can expect a bill of anywhere between $200-$700, this is a good average, however it could be more or less.
I am sorry I don't have a quick fix or easy answer for you on this one. Also please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
If you would like any additional information or have more questions please don't hesitate to ask!
