Hi my name is Eric,
I hope I can help you with your issue,
You say the red power light is on?
Do you hear a click when the TV is first plugged in?
Are you wanting to get an idea what a repairman will charge or did you want to open the TV yourself and attempt to fix it?
If you need more assistance, please tell me your technical ability,
1 I can solder and check voltages and want to know what board/part is bad so I can fix it myself
2 I am pretty good at figuring things out, but do not want to open the Tv up
3 I just know how to turn on my TV
This way, I can help you without getting to technical unless needed.
If I have helped you with your issue please click accept.
If you have more questions you can still respond until this post expires,
I will reply asap
Thanks
Eric
Hi Eric,
i really just want to turn it on ( no pun intended)
It was working fine until I tried to power it.
Light is on the amp uni - stays red
no light and no click when I pug it in.
I am not technically savvy ! Suzanne
Hi again Eric,
Are you looking into my problem ?
Can you tell me what options I Might have.
Does it sound as if it is a major problem?
If you would rather pass on the answer can you please let me know so that I can change my research approach. Suzanne
I am checking it now
I will be retiring to sleep now but will check your answers in the morning. Suzanne
Suzanne,
sorry about the delay
please confirm that 30HV4U is the exact and only model number?
Is this a USA or non USA model?
I wanted to download the service manual to verify if there is a main fuse and switch,
some of these have a power switch near where the AC cord goes into the TV.
Please verify that the cord is plugged into a non switched outlet and that the TV is secure, look for a switch near the bottom .
I am looking for the manual.
Good morning Eric,
I am located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and that is where I bought the Sharp Aquos LC-30HV4U.
I have the manual here and I have tried what they suggest in the trouble shooting section to no avail.
Here is what I did this morning .
I changed the power bar, re-connected the AC cords ( to the system and the TV) .
There are no switches near these connections.
The only light that comes on is on the system and it stays red - but no lights or click happen on the TV.
I do have a dvd connected to it. Should I try to remove that?
Thank you very much for your assistance . Any suggestion is welcome. Suzanne
The avc system is cabled to the TV right, did you disconnect the AC from the system too
That would reboot it.
Otherwise you need a service tech
It could be just a fuse, but unless you want to open it up and start taking things apart we won't go there. I have replaced fuses in a few sharp LCDs , 8amp 250volts.
If you call a repairman you are most likely going to spend $250 for just a fuse
$500-$600 for a power supply
Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with
I guess that is what I did not want to hear !!!!
I will try to find a Sharp technician here in Canada and bring the TV in for an assessment.
Thank you anyways. Suzanne
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
Best of luck with it
Eric,
This is the first time I use this service . I am suppose to ACCEPT this deduction?
Suzanne
Yes it would be nice of you to click accept.
Remember on your TV if yours comes with the AV control box, the repairman will probably require you to bring (if you are bringing it to them), the TV connecting cable and AV box. I had mentioned rebooting not just the TV, but the box also (hope you tried that)
Best of luck
