HelloCustomer welcome to Just Answer.

Can you give me the model number of the remote (if it's not on it it might be in the battery compartment).

Sylvania is the same as Funai and Emerson, so it's worth it to try all those code:

Sylvania 0054, 0030, 0171

Emerson 0154, 0236, 0463, 0180, 0282,
        0178, 0179, 0038, 0177, 0280

Funai 0180, 0179, 0171

Here is the manual for the search code feature if the code i gave are not working.

It's possible that no code allow to control totally or even in part that TV with that remote. It take time before they implement code for newer TV in a remote model that is starting to get older. Delay can be long as many years and it may even never be implemented.

Code are just index to set of signals already in the internal database of the remote. They can't really be "programmed" in those. that require a remote with true learning technology (all initial universal remote featured that before but is now very rare because cost reduction).
