Toshiba 62HM195 Lamp fan got noisy then died. Found another

Customer Question

Toshiba 62HM195 Lamp fan got noisy then died. Found another online (same model) but with different
connector. Original had white, red, black wires. New fan has red,
black, blue wires. Spliced wires together (red-red, black-black,
white-blue). TV starts momentarily then goes off leaving indicator
light which corresponds to "abnormal operation (including cooling fan
stop)".
All three fans (lamp, ballast, DMD) and bulb kick on momentarily when power button pushed then everything shuts off.

GreetingsCustomer can you list the numbers on the defective fan as well as the fan you purchased online?

Both are Delta AFB 1212L, 12V DC. The only difference in the two fans was the wire colors and the connector. I have a service manual for the TV also.

Response From Expert

When you purchased the fan online, was it listed as the Toshiba part number or the fan number?

No. I ordered a replacement fan on Partsonline.com in December and am still waiting for it. I found the aforementioned fan on Ebay. It is the exact same fan except for differences listed previously.

Accepted Answer

You either have a fan with a defective speed sensor circuit or the wrong type. When you mentioned the different color wire and plug, I felt that it might be the case. The stock fan is just the red and black wires and can be equipped with different types of sensors for both speed and temperature depending on the manufacturer's specifications. If the partstore is slow in getting the right part to you, you could try encompassparts.com and see if they have it in stock.
